App Art and Development

We are needing great ideas to put in this app so we have asked Southern River to supply as many great ideas as possible.  What does the school need in this app?  A staff directory of contacts, a location, a calendar, who knows so we have asked them.  The school will ask the students what they would like and we will take it from there.

We also need some artwork for the app.  So sitting between some neat features and a nice looking screen is where we need to be with this.

Curtin Mentors

We are currently hand selecting our CURTIN mentors for Southern River College.  These students are keen to learn and will be in a position to pass their knowledge on to a select group of students from the high school.  Time has been taken by engineering staff in this selection process as we really do care about who represents us at Southern River.

They must be:
1.  Strong mathematically and programmatically
2.  Good communicators
3.  Willing to do the job
4.  Software engineering students.
5.  Have a great sense of humour and good sense of fun!!!!!   This is most important....

Louis Creman - Profile

Louis will be training the CURTIN iOS group and has a number of apps on the app store.  Still in his early 20's he founded and is director of his own company that includes 5 other software engineers.  He is one of my favourite people and will even Skype to you from his gramme's house to fix up an app!!!  Louis part in this project will be to train 4 developers that will then mentor the high school students.  He will then leave us and get married the following week.  I lifted the following from his website.

Louis is the co-director and resident iOS guru of Guardian Software Development. He has taught and developed iOS training courses for both the Apple University Consortium and Dimension Data. Louis has twice received an AUC scholarship, enabling him to attend the Apple World Wide Developer Conference in San Francisco in 2009 and 2011.

In the office Louis is noted for his whiteboard, littered with the organisational details of his life, and for his beloved chair, missing a single arm on the left-hand side. Outside of the office, Louis is a keen networker, maintaining connections across the globe, and an avid squash player, playing up to three times per week.

Louis recently had an article written about him in WheelsfortheMind, the official publication of the Apple University Consortium. You can read the article in the AUC – WheelsfortheMind Autumn 2011 edition.
